The 430 primary surgeries done on FTM patients represents an estimated 80% of FTMs who transition.
Far fewer have bottom surgery: only 50% of those who have top surgery also have a hysterectomy, 1% have either a metoidioplasty or a phalloplasty.
Thus, even though these three 'bottom surgeries' are expensive, few FTMs have them, and the total average cost of bottom surgery is about $9000.
When added to the $8500 cost of top surgery, the average FTM total surgical cost is about $18,000.
